Tubular Battery indicates their name from the design of the
positive plate. The negative plates are identical, i.e. flat type, in both
automotive and tubular batteries. In automotive batteries both (+ve and –ve)
plates are flat plates, which is pasted with a specially prepared paste active
material whereas in the tubular design the +ve plate is composed of a series of
parallel tubes filled with lead Oxide.
Tubular are the most reliable back up power sources. Batteries
made from Tubular plates having good Electrical performance and longer shelf
life.
Several research studies have recently demonstrated that adequate
compression of positive active material is one of the key determinants of the
life of lead acid batteries. The superior life displayed by batteries with
Tubular Battery plates is related to the ability to retain the active material
around each conductive spine of the tubular plate.
Ampere Hour Rating:
Battery Capacity is determined by the amount of electrical energy
the battery can deliver over a period of time and is measured in Ampere hours
when discharge at a uniform rate over a given period of time. Ampere hours are
calculated by multiplying the current by discharge time.
